Jazz and Liquor.

Mary-Jane. Mary-Jane; the Queen of Fame. We watch her as she sits in her dressing room. Scarlett Lips, Matte, Porcelain skin and Slate painted eyes. She's headlining tonight- the star of the show. She's nervous, we can see it in her eyes but she knows how to calm herself down, she knows the perfect way: Charlie. She looks beautiful as she lines him up on the cold dressing table. She looks angelic as she snorts him up and we see her pretty eyes roll to the back of her head. She is calm and ready. Ready for the show.

Her heart is pounding like a fist make of lead inside her, she feels as if its going to pound right through her breaking her delicate rib bones. She's nervous.No. Exited. She can hear the crowd, she waits for her cue; she's the main attraction. All those people, waiting to see her. She'll be amazing though, she knows it, especially with Charlie for support. She's having doubts...No. Nerves, just the nerves...

"Please put your hands together for Mary-Jane!..."

"Shit" we hear her stutter, she has no time to check her costume or make-up. Before she knows it, she's up...

The audience roar with cheers and applause! They jump out of their seats pronto and whistle for Mary-Jane. The band begins to play, the audience are seated, the lights dim. The cymbals crash like the harsh sea against tough rocks, the piano kicks in with arpeggios and scales and chords! There she goes, doing what she does best. We watch as she parades around the stage, feathers waltzing and the tassels on her dress shaking. Her hair looks beautiful in the spotlight, like a river of liquidized honeycomb and gold. Her voice box blares out the sweetest sound as she twirls about, the spotlight is so bright, it blinds her; but she loves it. Dashing Gentlemen in the audience whistle suggestively at her. The music is so loud its deafening, everything is caught in the moment, her voice, her dance, the band, the applause; its all just so alive.

Halt. She is still, the band is silent the light is shining. Is this part of the act? We don't know. She stares out into the audience, the light is so dim, all she can see is the glistening of their eyes like stars twinkling and shining on her. The audience: silent, of course, they are memorized by her eyes, once so full of life, now, they are dead fossils set in her skull. We wait...whats the surprise? No-one knows. What is she planning? She's a angel set in stone, no movement or sound.

The cymbals suddenly crashes and she falls on her knees, decorating the floor like a colourful woven carpet: all sparkle and colour. The audience gasps, is it part of the show? The lights dim, the atmosphere grows thicker, this is the result of Jazz and Liquor.

Track 2

She's still. Cocooned in a porcelain paradise. Peaceful; at least she seems. Wires invade her angelic body, tubes tear through her throat. Life support machines are the only thing you hear; robots pumping her blood, pumps inflating her lungs. The room so sterile and white yet she feels infected and suppressed by fear.

She's hurt. Morphine cannot erase her pain. They're footsteps outside her room, nurses, doctors, family and friends. All going places but neglect her room. Still holding onto life but already forgotten.

She's stuck. Limbo never seemed so sad. In a trance of apocalyptic thoughts, she's screaming inside by no-one can hear her. She's stuck in a place far worse than hell. A place where feelings have no meaning, no love, no happiness, not even pain. She's reaching out for help, hope, happiness. Reaching recklessly for a helping hand. There's nothing.

Task 24- Room in New York

A middle aged man sits in a flat with his Mistress.
He reads the paper while she sits in silence.

Man: (looking up from paper and around the room) You've really turned this place around you know.
Woman: (Fiddling with glass ornaments on the shelf) Yes, well, I do try...
Man: (reading paper) Yeah, looks really nice.
Woman: (Turning to face the man) Look, Nigel... I need to talk to you...
Man: (flicking pages of the paper) Honey, I'll tell Megan about us. Just, not now, you know...
Woman: I hate being in this flat on my own most days. I need company, Nigel... (she says looking down)
Man: It won't be like that soon. I told you, I'm going to tell Megan. Just...just, give me time.
Woman: How long will that b-
(Man interrupts violently)
Man: I said I'd fucking tell her! Just leave it at that ok?!

Woman freezes in shock

Man:... Honey... I'm sorry, I didn't mean to....(hugging her)
Woman: (tears roll down her face) Get off of me. You make empty promises, all the time. Nigel I'm sick of it.

Man kicks the table in anger

Man: You know its hard for me!
Woman: We've been sneaking around for 6 years now, I want a solid relationship with no secrets. Man: I know... (he says angrily, clenching his fists)
Woman: You always say that you're such a man yet you're not brave enough to tell Megan?
Man: YOU DON;T UNDERSTAND HOW HARD IT IS TO TELL HER! MEGAN IS YOUR SISTER! IT WOULD BREAK HER HEART! (shouting)
Woman: Oh, so now all of sudden you care about breaking her heart? You never seem to care about her in bed, with me.

Man breathes heavily with frustration

Woman: You know, I might just pop there tomorrow and tell her myself
Man: NO! (he says lashing out and punches her torso)

Woman falls to the floor in agony and clenches her stomach

Complete silence...

Woman: You animal. I don't even know you any more...(shaking her head in tears)
Man: I'm...I'm..sorry(rushing towards her)
Woman:You. You stay the fuck away from me

They both look down to the floor and notice blood

Man:(staring in shock)...What is that...?
Woman: I'm pregnant, Nigel.

Nigel falls to the floor with guilt

Mary Poppins: And may I remind you, there will be no smoking in our meetings (she takes the cigarette out of Snow whites hand and smells it)...even the herbal stuff. Yes? OK... Who's like to start? How about you, Cinderella?

Mary Poppins:
Ahhh, Snow White! Would you like to share your story with the group?

Snow White: (Applying blusher to her face)Well, the marriage just got Sour. Literally. He grew an obsession with apples! Granny Smiths, Pink Ladys, you name them, he ate them!

Mary Poppins: (looking confused) And... what has that got to do with the divorce?

Snow White: (Looks shocked and puts down her make-up) Are you taking the piss?! You know how sensitive I am to Apples. You know what happened. Then, out of nowhere, out pops this craving for apples. I had to make him decide, me or the apples. I guess I wasn't Small and round enough for the git coz he chose the damn apples.

(The group gasps and whispers)

Mary Poppins: Well dear, he obviously wasn't right for-

(The Fairy God Mother enters looking drained)

Mary Poppins: Hmmm, May I help?
(Grinning)

Fairy God Mother:Oh, is this the reforming meeting for Alcoholics? (fiddling with her wand)

(The group fall silent and stare in disbelief)

Marry Poppins: No. No, its not. Thats in room 5.1... Toodles now! (Waving hysterically)

(The Fairy God Mother slowly exits hicupping)

Mary Poppins: Well, that shows that a spoonful of sugar really can go a long way!
(Laughing whilst Blushing)

Task 19

Your love for me did burn so strong and bright
But I was filled with doubt and growing fear
You layed awake with thoughts of us at night
“I love you”, words I didn’t want to hear
You showered me with gifts I didn’t need
I dusted false affection over you
To me, our love resembled bitter weeds
I tried to love you but it wasn’t true
The day arrived to tell him how I felt
I needed space just just a silly boy
Before confession, he bowed and then knelt
“Marry me?”, this moment I cannot enjoy
I gently pressed my lips to his and said
This love we share, to me, is truly dead.

Him and I

Last time wasn’t as good as I’d hoped. Things had somewhat changed between us. The atmosphere felt tense, even the sharpest knife couldn’t cut through it but it felt so right.

He sat there, staring at me. When I touched him he was cold; however, his smile was warm. There was something somewhat magical about that night. The butterflies, they were dancing inside me; waltzing perhaps. It felt as if they would just erupt out of my throat carrying everything negative inside of me away. Far away.

I’m stranded in no-man’s land. Fickle, frustrated, frozen… I love Dad but I’m just his puppet: he controls me. Mum’s amazing but she’s always busy with work or friends; she never has time for me. Overcome by a social hierarchy where I am at rock bottom. “Ugly Cow” “Pathetic Loser” they would roar from the school corridors. When everybody fails me, HE is always here beside me.

They’re doing it again. They’re rowing. The joust has begun and I have front row seats- exclusive, you could say. They charge towards each other, shouting the odds. I want to discourage them but I get a kick out of seeing them tear each other apart. After all, they deserve it don’t they? They dismiss my presence in the room as if I’m… nothing. I wish to wake up one morning and see Mum slumped on her bed, her scarlet red beaded necklace draping from her throat. What I would give to see Dad swinging from the bathroom ceiling, his body limp and cold. That sight would be somewhat, beautiful…

There’s only one person I need in my life, the one I truly love and need; him. Everybody else is an unnecessary nuisance. I spend nights convincing myself I can live without him but I surrender and admit that he is everything to me. He is the only one who understands me; he really digs deep down inside me and soothes the emotional pain tearing my heart and soul apart. He ignites my flame when others have blighted it. When he’s not with me, there’s always a mark of him on me: a mark of love.

I need to see him now. I cannot wait any longer my withdrawal symptoms are far more than I can handle. I need to feel his touch. I need to caress his smooth, perfect body. There’s a voice…IT’S HIM! He’s calling me. I’m roaming the house but cannot seem to find him!

I stop. Breathe .Listen. My heart is thudding. I’ve found him. My eyes are widening, pupils dilate. His eyes are glistening, oh how I wish I could live in his eyes. I stroke him, he laughs. I am at ease, I am serene.

Last time wasn’t as good as I’d hoped. Things had somewhat changed between us though, I forgave him. He didn’t fulfill me as much as I had hoped but he made the pain go away. I clasp him and move him all over my body. He touches my wrist, he knows my soft spot. I press him into my veins and watch the blood ooze out- I am one. He is all I need, he soothes all the hatred and fear inside of me. His mark will be with me forever, I will never forget him. A sight like this is truly…beautiful.

Ballad

She was lonely and eager for Love

Then a tall and foreign stranger appeared

Introduced her to a world of fun and lust

Well he seemed to have stolen her heart.

An English Rose with Egyptian Spice

Tied the knot on a sweet summers day

She believed she was blessed with her man

They began to joke, laugh and play.

Until one day she was forced to forget

Forget her religion and burn her rosary

He converted her to something she was not

She overcame and realized with him, she could never be merry.

The marriage began to fall apart

Then they produced two bundles of joy

She hoped it was a fresh start

For now she has a girl and a boy.

The years have passed and their love has died.

Threats and violence is what their house contains

Her Egyptian Spice had gone past his date

Now her children have matured with her pain.

Betrayel

Jerry:So here we are, we've both be fools

Robert:Whatever happened when we played squash?
Jerry:My Interest faded Robert though it was a laugh.
Robert:It was, you're right there!

debut 2

It’s dark tonight. Just hanging round a mates chilling and watching a film. It all went ok until he asked me. “You want some mate?”. This was completely out of the ordinary, I didn’t know he swung that way. I was flattered that he was willing to give but I didn’t want to ruin things. He didn’t seem to take no as an answer. He laid her on the table, she was hopeless, paralyzed. I didn’t want a criminal record. How could I touch her? She looked so hopeless, I wasn’t that kind of guy. He gave me a stern look pushed my head onto her. I was panicking, shitting myself to be honest. She was so white and soft. Laid there on a line. He whispered to me…

“SNIFF”

Haiku

Atul:

Unjustified man

Dad’s boring and outshone son

‘Dutt’ just isn’t me…

Eeshwar Dutt:

Elbow Game master

Reminice in the sweet past

My best friend is gone…

Lopa Dutt:

The past can’t erase

Clings onto my every thought

He was my TRUE love

Jai:

He is not worthy

Her beauty captivates me

But we cannot be…

Vina:

Consumate? My arse!

Maybe he doesn’t want me

I can’t escape now…

Laxman:

That canoodling cow

I wish she would disappear

Vina is my world.

Lata Patel:

Want the best for her

She is a grown woman now

I want to feel loved.

Task 16

Roar.

Hiss.

Roar.

Hiss.

The predators are ready for attack. Both their eyes burning with fury. Two beasts out to get one another but I feel that really I’m the prey. They both wish for ‘happy families’.

Happy my arse… She is sharpening her liquored claws as he grips his feet into the ground. I can almost hear both their hearts pounding synchronized with each other. Oh, this is tense; the fight of the century.

They Charge. Roar. Hiss. Roar. Hiss. I usually feel safe here, my haven, but now, its but a war zone. The violent movements increase. I’m warm but the screams I hear are cold and bitter. I feel a thud and she is on the ground…as well as me. At this point, I want to break free and stop this violence. But, I am weak and powerless.

My mother is paralyzed on the floor. I kick to try and conscious her; she does not stir. Father has killed my home, my tranquility, my life. My little heart is pounding wildly. Then, silence…

I Love/Miss/Need/Love You!

I hate you like Damien hated Church
I hate you like new clothes hates a smirch

Because they’re a lazy Sod
Who responds with an unsure nod.
I hate you like Hippies’ hate war
I hate you like Bailiffs hate a door
I hate you like Mercutio Je’deste amour
Even though he was there for his mate
But the conclusion was the work of fate
I hate you like flowers hate the winter
I hate you like a finger hates a splinter
I hate you like the type writer hates the printer
For taking away his work!
The Printer Looks back with an evil smirk.

HOWEVER…
I love you like Branson loves success
I love you like Mr Muscle loves a mess
I love you like a Geek loves chess
To show off his inhuman skills
God knows, he’s probably popping pills
I love you like Michael just LOVESS kids
I love you like Race cars love skids
I love you like Ebay loves Bids
So it can remain rich
And not in a cyber ditch
I love you like Shakespeare loved to write
I love you like the stars love the night
I love you like the breeze loves the kite
So it can Waltz in the air
Without any care

I need you like sound needs vibration
I need you like a Buddhist needs relaxation
I need you like a patriarch loves his nation
And who is overwhelmed with pride
And will gladly provide
I need you like a baby needs its sleep
I need you like a mourner needs to weep
I need you like a Sheppard needs his sheep
He keep his life afloat
Like a bright red blow up boat
I need you like a priest needs his prayer
I need you like Repunzel needed her hair
I need you like a patient needs care
To help them on their way
To live another day

I miss you like the desert misses the rain
I miss you like an alcoholic misses Champagne
I miss you like a Rehab patient misses Cocaine
The only thing he only needs
To help him through his grieves
I miss you like the Dr misses Rose
I miss you like the homeless miss warm clothes
I miss you like Liza misses her shows
For now she’s long gone
But a voice in a song
I miss you like Beethoven missed sweet sound
I miss you like a child misses the fairground
I miss you like Satan misses the Hell-hound
For evil is unleashed
And is a vicious beast

Love Is...

Love is the key to a rusted heart
Love isn't the end, but the start
Love is the cream on an apple Tart
Love is...

Love is a flower that lasts all year round
Love is not silence, but the sweetest sound
Love is the seed that lies in the ground
Love is...

Love is a bug, it will eat you inside
Love is a gift and will increase your pride
Love is a emotional strain of cyanide
Love is...

Love is the trigger to ecstacy and pain
Love is the priceless prize of the Game
Love is crop that grows on the plain
Love is...

Love is a heartbeat in a mothers womb
Love is the smile that liftens the gloom
Love is hope in the certainty of doom
Love is...

Love is a hand that guids your way
Love is a snowflake in the middle of may
Love is the Sun of everyday
Love is...

Love is a child with a brand new toy
Love is the tension between teenage girl and boy
Love is the child that is a bundle of joy
Love is...

Debut

Her Palms are wet, her eyes wide set. She feels scared stiff, its her first time.
Will she be good? She just has one chance to please, if it goes wrong then it’s no more.
The time is near, the one chance, the BIG chance.
The drapes are drawn so she clasps him and puts him to her lush lips, she shakes.
She looks round to see nowt, just her and him now.
All the dreams of this scene went great; no flaws.
She moves her thumbs up and down him and she plays the tune, just her and her flute.

Part Of Me...

Part of me is dead-no pulse or warmth inside
part of me is unread-for that part i have cryed
part of me is broken-scattered pieces of abuse
part of me is a token-Null and Void and out of use
part of me is a bird-willing to soar away
part of me is unheard-just a voice without a say
part of me is beautiful-or so I like to think
part of me is mutual
But most of me is off the brink

Part of me is a Prisoner-no freedom or room to grow
part of me is lamb doner-whats in it?who the hell knows
part of me is humerous-a cover up for pain
part of me is curious-whats the secret behind the game?
part of me is high-laughing with all my friends
part of me is a lie-too broken to try and mend
part of me is being strong-before I give up and sink
part of me is a sad song
But most of me is off the brink

Betrayal

I sent my heart to you by post,
enclosed with it, my kiss of lust,
it arrived at yours with my love,
but you betrayed my trust.
labelled with "return to sender"
you sealed your own damn fate,
you showed me misery
so I'll fill your world with my hate.
