Task 39 - The End

Part 1
A Concise Chinese-English Dictionary for Lovers by Xiaolu Gou
I chose A Concise Chinese-English Dictionary fot Lovers because this excerpt out of the four excerpts is funny and quite amusing. I liked the way Xiaolu Gou makes spelling mistakes purposely shows us that the person doesn't know proper English. In his writing he shows us that England is very complicated and an expensive place to live in. Xiaolu Gou made you want to read more and kept us wanting more.

Part 2
The END.....
The day had come..... where everyone in year six were leaving primary school were and moving to secondary school. Everyone was gathering up all the years work to take home for memory. Their were many children crying, weeping hysterically on the teacher's shoulders about the fact they don't want to leave primary school and go to secondary school because the older kids will bully them.

It was time to say our goodbyes to our teachers and classmates it was getting very emotional and a tear came pouring out my eyes.

I knew my year has end and we won't be the oldest in school anymore more like the opposites , we all in year six were going to go to a brand new school where are friends most likely will not go.

It was an end and a brand new beginning.

My Very Own Crime Fiction - Task 38

Part 1
End in Tears by Ruth Rendell

I thought this piece of writing was the most effective because this crime extract had the best descriptive, thought provoking writing than the other four.

This crime extract made me feel like I was in it and I was there listening and answering these basic questions, e.g. He closed his hand over the mobile in his pocket, worried because it hadn’t rung. Then it rang.
‘Yes?’
‘She’s left. You want the number again?’
‘I’ve got it. A silver Honda.’
‘Right.’
‘A silver Honda. Should be along in four minutes.’

The author wanted to leave you guessing what’s going to happen and make you want to read the whole book.

Part 2
The Burglary

There was a loud hysterical unfamiliar knock on the door which woke me up from that nightmare I was having about a burglary I got up quickly, panicking thinking who would come to my flat at this time of night. “Who is and what do you want?” I whispered .I opened the door, peaking to see who it is and there… this man in an all black outfit from head to toe was there with a bag full of goods in his filthy hands. “Give me your money” said the vicious, angry man. I responded gently in a scared voice saying “Leave me alone or else I’ll be dialling 999”.
At that exact moment the man rushed passed the door and ran in to my flat, “HELP! HELP! HELP” I squealed repeatedly as if it was a siren. The man helped himself to all my belongings and replied with “Shut your mouth you stupid lady or you’ll be dead”. He grabbed me and strangled me and asked for a rope and guess what, there I was mumbling “help!” and crying because I was tied up several times to a wooden chair and I couldn’t breathe.

The man had broken into my safe and stole the money which I was going to use for university next year. Then there was another loud knock on the door. “Are you done have you have you got all the gold and money, ahahaha!” exclaimed a strange man from outside, very selfishly and loud. The man warned me if I told the police he and his mate would give me another mind blowing disturbed visit which eventually shut me up. The man ran out of my flat giggling away like it was funny joke.

There was bright shining light of the sun from outside the window, was making me cringe. I could hear neighbours children moaning and groaning to not wake up. But still there I was stranded in my very own float waiting for someone to help me.

My Amazing Journey to Paris

Part 1
The Worst Journey in the World by Apsley Cherry-Gerrard (1922)

I chose The Worst Journey in the World by Apsley Cherry-Gerrard because out of all five travel literatures this one had the most effective, detailed writing about the whole scene, appearance and atmosphere.

Apsley Cherry-Gerrard used thought-provoking, figurative description for the atmosphere “....The moon was showing a ghastly ragged mountainous edge above us in the fog, and as we rose we found that we were on a pressure ridge”, and a good use of vocabulary and adjective.

The author used amazing language and sound effects for how the ice cracked it made you fell like you were really there, “More bangs, and creaks, and groans; for that ice was moving and splitting like glass. The cracks went off all round us, and some of them ran along for hundreds of yards”.

The opening of The Worst Journey in my World was extraordinary it was like the writing just started from nowhere, “Our troubles were greatly increased by the state of our clothes. If we had been dressed in lead we should have been able to move our arms and necks and heads more easily than we could now”.

Part 2
My Travel Literature
- My Amazing Journey to Paris

As we came out of the ferry we saw the beautiful city of France, it wasn’t looking that amazing when we were outside the ferry, and it was really scruffy and ugly. We yelled out for the taxi, so we can go and eat at a restaurant. When we got into the restaurant it was crowded with a lot of tourist just like us.

Bonjour, ca va?” I said politely to the waitress because that was the only two French word I knew back then. She replied ending with some other French vocabulary, which I didn’t know.

On that same day we went to visit the best tourist attraction places, and there it was the most mind blowing monument, The Eiffel Tower it looked amazing, I tipped my head to see the top tip of the Tower, but I couldn't’t because the sun was upon there and it was making me cringe.

The next day we went to see the top theme park in Paris, Disneyland. There were a lot of children messing about holding their parents hand. We went on a ride “ARGHHHHH” several children were yelling and screaming. The ride nearly made me puke which felt very atrocious.

That same day we went to dinner and dance, which was very lovely and relaxing, and all of us had a good time, listening to French songs. After the dinner and dance we went back to hotel and went to sleep.

Before it was time to leave and go to the ferry, we stopped at the very best souvenir shop, and brought several French key rings, goody bag, flag etc and stopped at the café, to eat what France was known for the beast, bread and cheese.

We walked quick, anxiously thinking that we missed the ferry taking us back to England. But as soon as we got there it was time for it to sail, so we made it.
