Fake (Beginner)

Red lips, white skin, brown hair, body twisted,
Stunning vision, staring out at me,
Desire provoked, revealed and listed,
You tempt me with all I wish to be.
Entertain my eyes, inspire quite,
Your faces are picture perfect, unique,
Swiss seconds of silver fuelled by light,
A dark romance, unattainably chic.
Buckle me, belt me, lace me, make me up,
White mother of pearl, let me find,
My worth in you, never wake me up,
Sanctuous dream, don't leave me behind.
What are the causes of my jelousy?
Glamorous advertising industry.

embarassment

A scarlet storm clouds over my plump cheeks,
An angry red on a canvas of white,
Cold, my hands shake, they're sweaty and I'm weak,
I try to look calm, yet my muscles tight.
You have made anger, you have made me hurt,
You know you've punctured all my self-respect,
I'm centre of attention, I'm overt,
Talk my way out, alas with weak interlect.
I thank you. Look at me, I'm publics fool,
I look around, no one comes to my aid,
Right about now, I am two inches tall,
Now please forget all the trouble that's been made.
From red to pink to scarlet, I'm ashamed,
My emotion, embarassment is named.

jaffer time!

Part One:

Sweeties are ridiculously awful
they're sugary and very bad for your health
And NO,the candy man can't. Cad bury fudge
I'm looking after Lucas, whens mum back
my course works getting harder each day F***
I'm missing Eastenders for work good choice
this sweet has the similar taste to soap
I'm now beginning to worry about my brother Lucas
oh damn! the sweets are all gone! I want More
Ive only got 9 lines to go I'm there!
cannot think properly my minds gone blank
I'm dreaming of bundles of pressies yay!!
blank blank blank blank blank blank blank blank blank blank
Would I look clever using 2 words twice?
Or would it just look lame and quite lazy
who uses that word lame? That sounds quite lame!
Look up Iambic verse on Internet
Do we seriously need to do poetry?
I have started to think iambically.

Part 2:

Outside the Window.
Outside my window, stands some kids with hoods
And matches setting fire to some cars.

What I'd Like To Eat.
I am incredibly hungry and I
would really like some food. Chicken and chips.

A Recent Dream.
I dream of news agents lecturing me
and stamping hard on my packets of fags.

Tasks Overdue.
Time flies when you have got to meet a dead line
but what makes it worse is I'm half dead.

My Body.
My body is a tardis. Tardis's
are bigger on the outside than the in.

track 11.

As he tenderly touched the keys producing a calm, tranquille, melodic sound, a shiver ran down his spine. It was beautiful watching him on the old leather chair, striking chords of which I had not heard before. The piano played along with him. They were at one with eachother, no body was to come in between them. Soft rays of light reflected off the patent piano and onto his face inhancing his soft, delicate features. At last he had found himself within the piano.

The audience were still. Nothing could be heard apart from the echoing of the piano's notes. No one dared to speak. Everyone was captured by the pure, intense sound pertruding from the instrument. It was absolutley compelling watching him play. He had put everyone in a trance, he had captivated the minds of every ear within the hall.

How was he doing it? He only had small, stumpy fingers and yet they extended the more he went on. Such talent had never been recognised before as he played and played and played. He was expected to recieve a standing ovation after all the hard work he had put in. And bloody hell, a standing ovation he did recieve. Women wiped their teary eyes as men stood up without hesitation to reward this lad with cheers and applause. Of course he did not stir, it hadn't affected him that everyone was in awe after the performance he gave. He elegantly stood up, took a bow at centre stage and walked off.

Brilliant work considering he was ten years old!

number 9, track 1

23;59, 8th September 1809, Le Beignon, France.

I woke up in a cold sweat. My ears pricked. Pitter-patter. T'was raining. Clap's of thunder. Twas pouring. A storm to welcome the new day. 00;00. And that's when I heard her. She was faint-sounding at first, I thought it was a dog outside. A dog howling. But a dog's cries did not sound as sharp as this. I thought it was a girl outside. A little french girl seeking refuge under our porch, away from the rain. What kind of parents would let their baby wonder the village at night like this? Come to think of it, her cries are too deep. Obviously not a mans. Her voice was not broken, but her cries were. Painful, empty, sorrowful cries. She was not on the porch, she was in the house! Downstairs, in the living room. An open space filled with little more than an old bookshelf and a sofa. What was she doing down there? Had I left the front door unlocked? No, that's not at all like me. The crying. It was getting louder. I could vividly hear it now. Not echoey. In fact, right near me. She was in the corner of the room! I could not see a thing, apart from when the lightning bolts provided glimses of a shadow.

"bonjour madame. Sont bien vous ? Quelle heure vous l'appelez-vous pour me déranger de mon sommeil avec votre cri ? Arrêtez-vous s'il vous plaît! Arrêtez-vous en ce moment! bonne nuit!"

The crying stopped. All was silent. It was dark. Even the clouds must have heard this commotion because they put a stop to the thunder and rain.

Suddenly footsteps! Stomping, angry, outraged footsteps running towards me. Almost touching, bumping into my bedside. I can hear her loud and clear - "Pisse de!" and then she laughed a victorious laugh and ran downstairs...

Room in New York...

(Jane sits by the piano tenderly touching the keys...John sits reading his newspaper avoiding eye contact with Jane...All is quiet...so quiet you can hear a pin drop.)

Jane : (Looks up from piano) John I can't go on like this... This is a bloody mess. We don't even talk anymore... what kind of relationship is this?

John: (Looks away from his newspaper) Jane we are fine. You're being paranoid.

Jane: No I'm not. When was the last time we have been out together? It's not right John, it's just not.

John: Well... How can I make it right? I offer you tickets to the ballet, you refuse. I offer you tickets to see the opera, you refuse. What more can I do?

Jane: You see we are falling apart...has it ever crossed your mind that maybe, juat maybe I do not like the opera or ballet?

John: Well what do you like then?

Jane: I liked Elvis Presley, but as you know we can't see him anymore, however, I am fond of that new girl, the myspace freak , who is she?

John: Oh you mean Illy Lallen?

Jane: Yes that's the one. Illy Lallen. Brilliant.

John: Well... If you want we can book a weekend in London to see her?

Jane: Oh I'd love that! See now you're getting into it! (she walks over to John and kisses him.)

John: Right, well... I'll book the tickets now then, shall I? (He walks over to the computer, then eagerly researches Illy Lallen tickets)

John: Perfectomondo! all done! Right next saturday - 11 o' clock at the Winchester theatre, London.

(cuts to them at the theatre)(A well-built woman stands in front of the crowd and bursts into song... Only It's an opera!)

Jane: You did get the right tickets, didn't you?

John: Yes. Your looking at her. (Points at the woman) I give you Illy Lallen!!!

The Suicidal Gingerbread Man

Lying down on the sofa, the little gingerbread man is seeking help after an awful year of manic depression. Talking to the councillor he explains his worries.

Councillor: ...So how did you feel after you had fled the old couple?

GM: I wasn't certain of how to feel. Obviously at that time I was quite anxious, I mean I had to constantly watch my back. These days, you just can't trust old people.

Councillor: Yes... and how do you feel about the cow that tried to molest you for your buttons?

GM: Oh God, I felt, how can I put it? (starts to weep) I felt ashamed. I blamed myself and thought I was leading the cow on. These days, you can't trust cows.

Councillor: Yes, take your time. This must be very hard for you, this injustice. But I am here to help and that is what I am going to do. Now, mr. Gingerbread man, when the horse attacked you, how did you react?

GM: Negatively. That horse was out to get me, I was terrified, I mean what else could I have been? It was just evil attacking a poor defensless creature like me. It was wrong of him. I was surprised I got away. I am very fortunate to have God on my side. These days, you just can't trust horses.

Councillor: You poor thing. Coping through such distress is often tricky, yet I find it useful to review the situation, after so many incidents I would have asked myself "Now, do I trust this creature?"...

GM: ... Yes well, as you know us gingerbreads are quite naiive, but I knew to be careful with the fox. You see, after everything that had happened, I find it hard putting my trust into anything or anyone, they just take that trust and use it against me. Yet I was clever with the fox. I was ever so careful and he (Starts sobbing) Oh God, he assured me, everything would be cool if I just hopped onto his back and swam over that river. (Cries now) But, he was a sinner too, and I only narrowly excaped his claws. You just can't trust foxes.

Councilor: Mr. Gingerbread man, don't cry, you'll make your ... juicy biscuit base all wet and soggy. Now, seeing as you've trusted me, I am going to trust you. (she locks the door. She then turns to the gingerbread man) I didn't have to run as fast as I can, I can catch you, naiive gingerbread man!!!!

(she then gobbles him down in a few bites.)

Sharp Rose/Angels with dirty faces.

Amy: She knows what she's doing. Look at her.
Rose: Suppose she does.
Amy: What a whore.
Rose: Hmm... whore.
Amy: She's clever though, doing it so slyly.
Rose: Hmm.
Amy: Why are you acting so... weird?
Rose: (pauses) Well... she's not the only sly one here.
Amy: Yeah, true. I mean who does Jessica think she is? The fucking slag.
Rose: NO Amy I didn't mean Jessica.
Amy: Oh what? Janet. Interesting. I thought we agreed she's alright. But yeah, I get the angle you're coming from...
Rose: No Amy.
Amy: Then what.
Rose: (pauses)
Amy: Say it Rose. Just say it 'cos I don't want to waste my break with you taking your time. If you've got something to say, come say it to my face.
Rose: I'M ON ABOUT YOU. YES YOU AMY.
Amy: (Amy looks shocked) So... what are you trying to say?
Rose: AMY YOU'RE SO DUMB. I'm fed up of this, every break lunch and any other time we spend with eachother you just talk about other people. Everyone knows you do, why can you talk about everyone behind their back and yet you can't tell them face to face?
Amy: Atleast I don't stand there with stupid socks, and stupid shoes looking like such a geek... God Rose your nothing without me.
Rose: Ok we'll see... I'm gone yeah, fuck you. (Rose walks off towards Jessica leaving Amy in the playground by herself.)

**********************************************************

Angels with dirty faces.

Jane: Yes miss. I'll see you later, and miss, thanks for everything you've done. It's really helped. (Jane walks out to meet up with her friends)
Lucy: Miss, I just love that dress your wearing, (Miss turns round the corner out of earshot) shame really, she's so fat, I'm surprised the old cow can fit into it! (All the girls giggle)
Sarah: Anyway girls, oh my days did I tell you about Ashley? You know how I went to his house yesterday? Well... (she whispers, all the girls giggle)
Christina: Are you serious Sarah?
Sarah nods.
Michelle: You go sister! So what are you going to that party tonight with him?
Sarah nods again smiling.
Lucy: That's nothing. Me and Jamie (she whispers, everyone giggles)
Christina: Bloody hell Luce... You're mad. If your dad ever found out, he would kill you and Jamie! Anyway, girls are you going to Bobsters party tonight?
All the girls apart from Jane shout: YES!!!
Michelle: What about you Jane?
Jane: Nah I can't, besides I don't want to.
Sarah: Why?
Christina: Yeah how comes you don't? Not in a rude way but you never come out.
Lucy: Yeah. And we've all done it, why don't you?
Jane: Lucy what do you know? What do all of you know?
Sarah: Are you on your period or something?
Michelle: Shut up sarah, what is it Jane?
Sarah: Have you even started your period?
Michelle: shhhh
Sarah: What? We don't even know if she has.
Jane: I don't want to talk about it. Leave me alone.
Sarah: Jane you soppy cow can you just say what it is?
Jane: Alright. But you lot can't say anything to anyone yeah? (all the girls nod their head) I'm pregnant! (everyone looks shocked. Eventually sarah speaks)
Sarah: So she has started her period then.

task 21

(Standing on the roof of a nine storey apartment, Lauren looks down quizzically, then turns to face the audience.)

turns to face the audienceLittle Lilla didn't deserve to go, thinking about it now. At that time, killing her seemed to me to be saving her. I was very confused, as you could probably tell. When Lilla's grandmother suspected a suspicious death, I saw it as an oppertunity to seek revenge on all those smart comments she threw at me. Then Matty and I had a row, obviously there would be tension and I was expecting it, what with the loss of his only daughter and his mother. However, it took a nasty turn when Matty's tone of voice suggested he suspected a bit of foul play with the unfortunate losses. So, whilst his back was turned, I plunged a dirty blunt kitchen knife into it. It provided thorough entertainment as it squidged into him, i can still remember the faint smell of pickle left in the kitchen as i cleaned the bloody floors. And as I did it, I remember thinking "bloody hell Lauren, look what you've done now. Im sure this was on an episode of eastenders once!" Soon after, the old hags in town started talking and that pissed me off too and I couldn't kill them off 'cos there were so many so I was relieved when I had a brainstorm. So my last words to you are Don't kill your kids - it's more trouble than it's worth.

(And with that, she jumps, curtains close.)

dramatic monologue

(In this last scene John reveals to the audience the "dark secret" that has been questioned over throughout the play. Standing on the roof of a nine storey apartment, he stares down at the darkness below him slowly reciting the following)

I'm loving angels instead... They do not hurt... they do not disrespect... they do not challenge or fight... they do not need to learn to love... they are not scared... they are not negative. I will follow in my mothers, my brothers, my sisters and my daughters footsteps to the gates into heaven where they will greet me with smiles of long lost times when i was with them, laughing, crying, singing, and compelled with a passion stronger than all others. They will tell me how much they love me and how they miss me and have thought of me everyday, knowing I'd soon be with them. There is nothing down here for me. Earth is the real limbo described in the bible. Life is (he pauses) a test of time. To beat it, you yourself needs to be a stronger more powerful force. I do not have that force. God please for give for what I am about to do... It is for you and Janice, and James, and Lucy, and Lilla. Oh God, lilla, how is she? Is she happy? Does she still smile when she thimks of me? Does she miss me? Tell her I am so sorry. I am so sorry for what I have done. Her petite neck, A perfect fit for my hands which gripped and held on to it as if holding on for dear life, ironically. Are her eyes as misty blue as they were before ... before... before. Is her hair still as silky and as blonde before the perspiration of trying so hard to be freed got to it? Does she know how she came to you? God, was it selfish of me to try and protect that poor innocent soul from this Limbo and all the creatures in it? Does the sun shine in heaven illuminating little Lilla's face? Is she wearing her favourite dress? The Baby blue dress with the orange flowers. The dress i buried her in. Tell her I'm sorry, Daddy never meant to drink and shout and spit and hit and hurt her. Mummy never meant to watch and cry, paralyzed from all the fear. Mind you, your mother always seemed to be paralysed from fear, the fear of me. Tell little lilla it wasn't daddy that was hurting her, it was daddy's illness. Remind her of Jack. Does she cower into a corner? Is she scared? Does she remember him and all he did to her? Tell her... tell her... tell her he's coming for her, (mysterious smile appears) tell her Jack is coming, Jack is coming for her, Jack is coming and mummy's not here to help. Jack is coming, Jack is coming lilly baby! ...

(And with that, he eagerly jumps)

Task 19

I loved him. I knew it had to be love
They told me I was infatuated
I told them not true, I was hand, He was glove
Because I knew what we had was sacred
So I texted and called him day in
Day out. Most of the time he texted and called back
He was mine. My world revolved around him
Then she came. She came and she attacked
Her hair, her eyes, she was beautiful
to him. She was the wicked witch to me
What was wrong with me? She was much more cool
Friends said it's not me, so I let them be
So now I walk by and watch them lock lips
Minding my business, that's my best tip

Task 18 - Task 17 edited

Excercise 1: Iambic Pentameters
A brand new space of which to make my own
To meet new people and then make new friends
To get to know my new way around town

Excercise 2: Trochaic Tetrameters
Their wallpaper was disgusting
And the mantle piece encouraged
My thoughts of masicuring it
With a sledge hammer, nice thought eh?

Excercise 3: Dactylic Trimeters
Working hard. Furnishing. Making it.
Adding a personnal touch to it.

Excercise 4: Anapestic Dimeters
Time to move. A new start.
Start to pack. Then un-pack.

Excercise 5: Quatrain; Abab; Iambic Pentameters
Our home, camoflaged amoungst others
hidden sanctum of which to retire
buying stuff like cushions, carpets, covers
Browsing magazines for things to inspire

Excercise 6:Quatrain; abab; anapestic tetrameter/anapestic trimeter/anapestic tetrameter/anapestic trimeter.
Usually, you will find it is weird moving in
You think of the persons moving out
Packing and un-packing is a sin
And yet i'm excited that's what it's all about!

Task 16

"...You never look after the children!" 15-love.
"I never look after the children? Well maybe that has something to do with the fact that I work my arse off day in and day out unlike some!" 15-all.
"see here we go again, you always put work before the family!" 30-15.
"And what? You think I'd like to hop on a train every bloody morning and to be put under the watchful eye of my boss and have him breathing down my neck?" 30-all.
"As a matter of fact I do. Because while he's supposedly breathing down your neck during work hours, he's bloody on top of you in your lunch break!" 40-30.
"And what the hell is that supposed to mean?"
"You know exactly what I mean. Late nights out, working late. You can't hide it from me, from us anymore"
"Well, that has to be your guilty conscience, or have you forgotten last year?" Deuse.
"I thought we wern't going to discuss the past anymore 'coz I could bring up a whole load of stuff about you, besides it was a misunderstanding with your mother" - advantage. "Just remember how I've helped you" Game. Only it isn't a game, it's real life. Dad walked off and mum sat back down at the table, sobbing, her eyes blinded by tears.

Everyone knew what mum was up to, they just couldn't bring it up - well not until now. We wouldn't know where to start. "Hey mum, you know Eric, the one your secretly having it off with behind dad's back? well, when can we meet him? Can he come in for a cuppa???" That wouldn't pan out to well. And anyway, turning a blind eye just made it easier for us all. We could enjoy pretending to be one happy normal family. Although I wanted to take my dad's side and question her 'til the cows came home, I couldn't. So i simply put my arm round her shoulder and hugged her. It wasn't her fault dad went out a lot, and didn't shower her with attention, it just wasn't him. He wasn't Romeo-like, he never did a romantic thing in his life. Even flowers still had the tesco value sticker on, revealing the slashed price. Fish and chips was his speciality, and a romantic gesture from him would be a chinese from Woo lot down the road. Soppy cards reading "roses are red, violets are blue, you are like honey and I love you" just wern't cutting it anymore. So it was understandable that Eric, who left her secret coded messages and bought her champagne, had swept her off her feet almost immediately.

Trouble was, where did all this mess leave me?

Debut

Everybody's rushing. There's screaming. Wires are purposely scattered everywhere. There's re-assurance too - everything's going to be alright, however, I cannot do anything. It's all a blur. I'm barricaded from all the excitement. So I let them persue their job and stare at the white-washed walls. Then there's a pause, followed by silence. The rushings stopped. The screamings finished. Wailing is introduced. Although it is faint, everyone's listening. The door to which all the commotion has occurred opens. A nurse steps out and I am invited in. And then I see it. A newborn. A baby. My new baby brother.

Saturday, 22 September 2007

debut

Snip, snip, cut. Cut, snip, snip. A weight off my mind. A new start. A new me. Yet like any new thing - would they like it?

Chop, chop, chop. Months of growth gone in a tick. Hair on the floor. Dead cells now twice as dead.

As it falls, I think - is this wise? I'm told I'll be a whole new being with this cut. That's wrong.

Then it is done, and I stare back at me, then walk out in to the open world - a rush of wind in my face, now free for the world to judge.
