football is not something people do for fame
"football is a weak sport" this is just a claim
football is
football is a passion for anyone who cares
football is a addiction for anyone who dares
football is a cheat says every fan who swears
football is
football is Defoe running with the ball
football is not Ronaldo making another fall
"football is boring"me saying this i don't recall
football is
football is to most: a means and way of life
football is "all you ever watch"continuously moans the wife
football is not a means to create strife
football is
football is going to the lane every Saturday
football is going to watch your team play
football is not just about the pay

Your love for the beautiful game permeates the whole poem - but fresh and original metaphors are few and far between in your quest for a clean rhyme. Remember - a metaphor should be a powerful image which is fundamentally DIFFERENT from what you are trying to describe, and yet has sufficient similarity to shed new light on it and deepen our understanding of it.
ReplyDeleteYour final stanza is perhaps the best - elsewhere, you sacrifice metaphor for rhyme a lot of the time. Do you see what I mean? Or am I being harsh? Feel free to comment back. :)
