The moment had now arrived. The princess in her flowing garment of white, the diamond tiara on her luscious curls and the bouquet in her clammy palms. Behind her was the king in his tuxedo, tears of happiness in his little eyes, the queen by his side wearing the same expression, staring at her daughter in glorification.
But it was okay for them. They lived a fairy tale marriage but she knew that she wasn’t going to commemorate their story. Only she knew the consequences of marrying this criminal. The criminal who murdered her lover. Her one and only, Romeo.

ReplyDeleteI also love the way you appropriate Shakespeare's story and make it your own - and you work cleverly towards your conclusion too, building suspense skillfully as you do.
However, as for simile and metaphor, this is perhaps where your piece is somewhat lacking; figurative language can provide such depth and texture to a piece of writing...
