Task 21: A Redraft

Such was the detail in so many of the comments on Task 20, and such was the tremendous potential of all of your monologue first drafts, that I think it would be cheating both workshoppers and moderators not to give you a chance to redraft your first attempt at this task.

Obviously, if you feel you have already attained perfection, then all you need do is attempt another monologue from scratch instead. However, I reckons ALL of you could benefit from a second draft, in order to rectify one or more of the following issues:

1. There really should be NO basic, careless errors with regard to spelling, punctuation or layout;
2. You need to work to make sure that your script is convincing as SPEECH, with all the colloquial idiosyncracies that go with that: how exactly WOULD your character talk?
3. Don't overdose on narrative or related action; this should be drenched predominantly in character, above all else...
4. Work on your structure, ensuring that your ending is fitting, powerful, congruous and not disappointing;
5. And, lastly, think carefully about how your script will exude originality throughout...

Not only should you OBVIOUSLY try to take on board most of the comments your submission received, but you should also read closely everyone else's submissions AND the comments THEY received - all in order that you can get as close as possible to the PERFECT monologue. I sincerely hope NONE of you will succumb to the laziness and/or mediocrity which might lead you to post simply the same piece but with one or two minor changed. This is your chance to produce something truly extraordinary - and I shall be expecting a vast improvement from ALL of you. Good luck! And if any of you want any further pointers, just ask. :)

Deadline = midnight. Saturday 8th March.
